Essentials For Survival In A Doomsday Situation

There are many different scenarios that could be considered a “doomsday situation” for some people. It could be a natural disaster such as Hurricane Katrina or it could be earthquakes, a large explosion, extended power outages, or terrorist attacks. These are some good things that you can do to be better prepared for facing a wide variety of disasters.

If you have a sheltered area that you will be forced to stay at for an extended period of time until law & order is restored, such as a situation in which it is unsafe to leave your home for a long period of time, you should take note of the following basic needs of survival.

Water Supply – Try to keep a few weeks supply of water in case of emergency. Plastic jugs might start to degrade and mess up the water after a couple of years, so some people like to store their emergency water in glass containers, or just refresh your water supply every couple of months with clean water in fresh jugs. Hopefully you’ll never need to use your emergency water supply.

Weapons – My favorite. If you’re surviving, and you have the basic needs for survival, well…someone else is going to want those basic needs for themselves, and they may just resort to violence towards you in order to take what they want. This is unacceptable. Sure, it’s nice to share, but if you’re family and yourself come first. If any outsiders try to violently take something important to the survival of your family, you want to be able to fight back. Shotguns are good for home defense and they can also be used for hunting food. Make sure you have plenty of ammunition. Be very careful with any weapon. Keep them locked away unless absolutely needed.

Food – This is urgent. You will need food that is easy to cook such as rice, canned goods such as Campbells Soup that can be heat over a flame. Maybe even some MRE’s (Meals Ready To Eat) like the military uses, will last for a LONG time. Keep a supply of vitamins.

First Aid Kit – Have a stocked first aid kit available and keep a few weeks supply of any medicines that you may need.

Precious metals – In most cases, cash would be fine, but in case all hell really breaks loose, PRECIOUS METALS such as gold and silver is where it’s at. Valuable for trading.

Keep your cars gas tank full at all times.

Batteries and Candles – Many of them!

Other things good to have would be a generator of at least a couple thousand watts. A shortwave radio. Matches, lighters, flashlights.
