The Houston Texans have entered into a rebuild this offseason, ushering out several big names, including superstar quarterback Deshaun Watson. Perhaps next to be on the move is wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who is entering the final year of his contract in 2022. The 28-year-old is coming off his second straight 1,000-yard season in a less-than-ideal offensive environment- what could he do with the right pieces around him? There will undoubtedly be several NFL teams willing to find out.
While the Texans’ asking price for Cooks was rumored to be a second-round pick, a pretty high price to pay, it likely won’t deter teams who have enough of a need at the position. That said, here are the three best trade destinations for Brandin Cooks amid rumors.

3 Best Trade Destinations For Brandin Cooks
The Packers will understandably be linked to nearly any wide receiver who becomes available this offseason, given the fact that Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are no longer in town. With back-to-back MVP Aaron Rodgers set to return, the Packers will be looking to compete. Head coach Matt LaFleur has made it clear that the franchise needs speed and a field-stretcher at the wide receiver position. Enter Cooks. The speedy wideout has hauled in passes of at least 50 yards in each of his eight seasons in the league and is one of the better downfield targets in the league. He could immediately step in and be Rodgers’ favorite target in 2022. Plus, with two first-round picks and two seconds in this year’s draft, Green Bay might be more inclined to part ways with a second-round choice than other teams, making them a perfect trade partner with Houston.
The Eagles need a receiver badly, as the depth chart is looking a bit bare behind last year’s first-round pick DeVonta Smith. Plus, the Eagles are armed with an extra second-round pick following their big trade with the New Orleans Saints. Cooks would be a perfect target for Philly, as he is about as consistent a performer at the receiver spot as there is. In eight seasons, the 28-year-old has exceeded 1000 yards in six of them. He’s tallied six or more touchdown catches in a season five times. That’s the kind of reliable target that the Eagles need for developing quarterback Jalen Hurts. Armed with the necessary draft capital, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman should give the Texans a call about a Cooks trade.
This is where it all started for Brandin Cooks, as he was drafted by New Orleans back in 2014. Cooks emerged as a strong talent with the Saints, as he accumulated 1000 yards in two of the three seasons he spent there. New Orleans, who lacks a talent besides star wideout Michael Thomas, could use some added stability at the wideout spot. Why not reunite with Cooks? While the Saints just executed a hefty trade with the Eagles, they should still be able to find the draft capital to make a move for Cooks. With Thomas the possession receiver and Cooks the field-stretcher, the Saints could have one of the better receiver duos in the NFL for quarterback Jameis Winston.
